The Physiotherapy Service sits within the Allied Health Service Line of East Cheshire NHS Trust.
The service delivers care in a variety of settings, including acute hospitals, rehabilitation centres, community clinics and GP practices. There are strong links with local GPs, consultants and a range of healthcare professionals, and within the Allied Health Service Line there is frequent joint working with other AHPs to enhance patient care and service development.
Junior rotations are offered at a range of community bases and acute rotations for Medical, Surgical, Orthopaedic and more recently with Frailty and Paediatrics specialities take place at both Macclesfield and Leighton hospitals.

We are a forward-thinking, evolving service, offering a range of experience and career development opportunities from physiotherapy assistants through to extended scope practitioners. Clinical specialisms are supported by advanced clinical specialists, and professional leads support CPD via competency frameworks, mentoring and in-service training. We have also invested in technology such as introducing iPads to the teams with access to patient primary care records to support with the provision of joined-up community and acute patient care.
There are also innovative physiotherapy research facilitator posts with Keele Research Institute for Primary Care Sciences. These posts help bridge the clinical and academic worlds, and support regular research trials and the implementation of new evidence into clinical practice.
